This week we continue to build interfaces to Max patches using the MaKey MaKey board and stuff we hack together with recycled materials and Makedo connectors. Our emphasis is on controlling multimedia on the desktop or laptop.
Do Before Class
Work through the following tutorials to become more familiar with Max and to get some ideas for structuring exhibits programatically.
- Getting Started with Max 6. An introduction to the environment and some simple programs.
- Ordering and Choosing Events in Max 6. Giving users the ability to choose the pace or order of events, or stepping through them automatically.
- Continuous Values and Discrete States in Max 6. Mechanisms for representing continuous phenomena.
In Class
In class we will make use of the patches described in the following tutorial.
- Interfacing with Multimedia in Max 6. Patches to display pictures, play audio and video, manipulate 3D models, and more.
