This week we will explore a new microcontroller-based interface, the Phidget, and discover how various kinds of electronic sensors convert physical stimuli to signals which can control an interactive exhibit.

Do Before Class

If you want to use your own laptops, you will need to install the Phidgets drivers for your operating system (Mac or Windows). You will find the links here. Once you have clicked through the “Quick Downloads” link, be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

In Class

In class we will be using the patches described in the following tutorial. You will also be able to experiment with the sensors listed below.
